Volunteer Training Positions

Parents,

As you will recall, we are a volunteer organization.  We require every family to work one position during a swim meet if you have a swimmer who is swimming in that meet.  While all of the positions are relatively easy, some of the positions require advanced training to ensure fairness across the swim league.  RSL has opened up that advanced training for those people willing to take it.  For those interested, here is the link.  We cannot run the swim meet if we don't have the training positions filled:

For those returning parents, you are familiar with the positions, for those new parents, I am listing our volunteer positions below.  PLEASE consider taking the training.  If you have any questions, you are welcome to call or text me: 540-424-1150.  If the position has a * in front of it, it requires advanced training:

*Stroke and Turn: you watch the swimmers and make sure their strokes are legal.  This is our most important position and the one we traditionally have trouble filling.  Don't be scared of it, it is super easy

*Starter: You speak into a microphone and start each race.  You work with the referee and he/she pretty much tells you what to do.  This is a good stationary job.

*Clerk of the Course: You help/run the area where the kids report before each race. You make sure the kids get in the proper order to get to the starting blocks.  This is a good job if you have small children because you can set up an area for them to sit and play while you herd the swimmers.

Timer: You time for swimmers. No advance training is necessary

Runner: You either run time cards to the data table or you walk kids from the clerk of course to the starting blocks  No advance training is necessary

Thanks.

Andrea
